The Square Mile

Last month I ventured into London for a Streetsnappers street photography course based in and around The Square Mile, led by Brian Lloyd Duckett.

We met at 10am for introductions and a thorough briefing on all things street photography, before setting out for a day of shooting. London’s financial district is as much about the modern architecture as it is about city slickers, with the usual London tourists thrown in for good measure, making it a rich subject matter for street photography.

As someone who considers people watching a favoured pastime (normally a slow paced half hour with a cup of tea in hand), candid people-based photography has always fascinated me, so this course really helped in starting to conquer my fear of photographing strangers, as well as starting to identify photo opportunities within everyday scenes.
